Thank you for considering Spring Lake Park Schools. Whether you are a current resident of the Spring Lake Park Schools community or are looking for a new school district for your family, we invite you to learn more.

Welcome to Spring Lake Park Schools! We are a vibrant school community serving about 6,200 students from the suburbs of Blaine, Fridley and Spring Lake Park, in the northern Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. Our district purpose – “High expectations, high achievement for all. No excuses” – provides our focus to meet the unique and varied needs of each student.

We have three K-4 elementary schools, a K-4 Spanish immersion school, a grades 5-8 intermediate and middle school – with separate programs for grades 5-6 and grades 7-8, a grades 9-12 high school, a school for highly-gifted students ages 6-18, and an online distance-learning program. There are also a variety of early learning programs offered for families.

Our vision includes a focus on creating personalized and engaging learning experiences so that each student feels valued, inspired and has a sense of belonging, resulting in career and college readiness so that each student has aspirations for success. We are collectively committed to taking whatever actions are necessary to achieve this vision.

Innovation is part of who we are in Spring Lake Park Schools. We are continually looking toward what else is possible and how might we improve and enhance learning for each student. We have created a system that encourages teachers and staff to innovate and think differently. Creativity and human-centered design support teachers in creating learning experience that are meaningful, engaging and enhance student engagement and success.

Spring Lake Park Schools (SLPS)

SLPS is a special place. It is a place where the community is supportive of our schools, staff, and students. Every day we work to personalize learning for each student. To create engaging learning that meets the unique needs of each student.

Most importantly, we have a group of teachers and staff that is second to none. It is a staff that truly aligns their efforts each day to meet the unique needs and interests of each student. Doing all they can to position each student to realize their individual aspirations. This is accomplished by making continuous improvement and innovation part of our daily work. Consistently seeking ways to enhance the experience of our students. As well as the parents and customers throughout our communities.

Our Vision

Our vision includes a focus on creating a personalized learning experience. One that engages so that each student feels valued and inspired. Additionally, giving students a sense of belonging. Which we believe results in career and college readiness. So that each student has aspirations for success. We are collectively committed to taking whatever actions are necessary to achieve this vision.

Strategic and District Operational Plans

Our “Strategic Plan for the Future” is the roadmap that we follow in our continuing – and measurable – focus on success and in its commitment to the needs and emerging needs of all students.

The District Operational Plan (DOP) is developed annually by Superintendent Ronneberg, district administration and principals, and outlines projects that will lead the district toward accomplishing the strategic plan.

Adaptive planning is at the foundation of the work we do in Spring Lake Park Schools. Rather than having a static strategic plan that attempts to identify all of the strategies and objectives necessary for the next five years, we utilize an adaptive design and planning process. This is aligned around improving student learning through innovation within our strategic anchors and initiatives. We assess progress internally, consistently look outside the system at emerging influences and strive to move from current reality – where we sit today – toward what we want to achieve, which are our desired results.

While we have an annual DOP, we consistently assess our work within the plan and make adaptations as necessary to meet changing conditions. By adjusting our work on a regular basis, we bring greater coherence and alignment to our efforts.
