History: The original Rockford School District was set up by the Wright county commissioners on September 6, 1856. The first school house was built in 1860. In 1875, the Wright and Hennepin county commissioners set up a joint district call joint district 112. By 1905, the Rockford School District was a full 12 year school. During the 1960′s, redistricting occurred that created the boundaries as Rockford is today. The school district was renumbered to the current Independent School District # 883. The Rockford School District 883 currently encompasses three schools, an elementary arts magnet school, a middle STEM magnet school, and a high school, serving the communities of Corcoran, Greenfield, Rockford and Rockford Township. Our preK-12 public school population is about 1660 students. The Rockford Area Schools provides quality services and support for life-long learning opportunities. Helping every student be successful is at the heart of our mission of educating students for life. We are proud of our staff and the community for their dedication to and support of student success.
