OUR SCHOOL CULTURE

Founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1877. Academy of Holy Angels has a long history steeped in the traditions of our founder’s patron, St. Joseph.

Since 2010, the AHA student body has gathered for convocations every Thursday to build community. Have fun, pray together, celebrate student and staff successes! We share community member stories and celebrate the mission of AHA.  Convocation begins with the student body praying AHA’s Prayer of St. Joseph, written by an AHA staff member, and ends with AHA’s School Song, also written by AHA staff members.

In 2017, AHA received the MISF School Program award for the AHA Way program, which was developed in order to intentionally create a caring, welcoming, inclusive and respectful school environment at AHA.  Read more about the 4 tenets of the AHA Way.

AHA’S PLAN DOCUMENT

A Time of Opportunity

Of course, Academy of Holy Angels High School has a tradition of service to students and families.

The Academy of Holy Angels was founded in 1877. Was founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph. They are commitment to excellence in education. Also, service to students, their families, and the community. Throughout its history, the school has been dedicated to preserving the past, providing for the present, and planning for the future.  AHA has made this happen by taking on new challenges. Also, by learning to change. All while remaining true to its mission. For that reason, now the school prepares to meet the challenges coming up. With the same commitment to past, present, and future. Knowing that new strategies and bold action will be important in carrying out its mission.

The next five to ten years will be critical for Academy of Holy Angels High School. As a result, Holy Angels has the opportunity to build on its already strong program. To become truly outstanding..

Building on its strong Catholic tradition and the heritage of Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondolet.  Also, affirming what the high school does well. This plan identifies the initiatives that must be undertaken if Holy Angels’ potential is to be realized.

Their Mission

The mission of the Academy of Holy Angels is to educate and nurture a diverse student population. Specifically so that each student, as a whole person, may achieve full potential to excel. They will excel intellectually, to live spiritually, to lead responsibly, to act justly and to serve selflessly.

Their Vision

In the next decade, Holy Angels will excel in the unique educational experience it offers students. In the CSJ tradition, Academy of Holy Angels High School has as its mission both academic excellence and growth of the whole person. Each student is challenged with a rigorous course of academic study; a wide variety of co-curricular opportunities; and an active campus ministry program and various faith formation opportunities including service experiences, retreats, liturgies and other prayer experience.

MAKING AN AHA EDUCATION A REALITY

Tuition

Tuition for the 2019-20 academic year is $15,595. Families may make tuition payments on a 10-month, trimester or one-time payment plan. The technology fee is $400 per year.  Our Board of Trustees sets tuition and fees for the following year in early January.

  • St. Joseph Academic Scholarships are awarded to 8th grade students. These are based on strong academic achievement, leadership and service. They are merit based awards that are renewable over all four years of attendance.  No additional scholarship application is required for consideration.

Tuition Assistance

Providing financial aid to qualifying families is a priority at Holy Angels, as we are mindful of the sacrifices families make to send their children to Holy Angels. Our goal is to help families bridge the gap between what they can afford to pay and our tuition, and to make our Holy Angels high school education affordable to as many families as we can.  More than 1.5 million dollars was awarded to over 40% of AHA students in 2018-19.

Applying for Financial Aid

Academy of Holy Angels uses the Tuition Aid Data Services (TADS) to process financial-aid applications and determine financial need. TADS uniformly collects information from each family to provide a report to AHA. Holy Angels uses this information to award tuition assistance and scholarships.

Be aware that to be included in the initial allocation of financial aid awards, your TADS application must be submitted by January 15, 2020. Applications are online beginning in October 2019 and can be submitted at that time and updated in 2020 when tax returns have been completed. Awards are allocated on a rolling basis after the initial awards have been granted.

TADS Worksheet and Application

Complete the TADS worksheet, which greatly simplifies the application process, then complete the TADS application.

Please note:

  • TADS does not award grants or scholarships; it processes the forms and provides AHA with a tool for allocating financial aid.
  • The Holy Angels financial aid administrator will allocate both scholarships and need-based grants to current and incoming students. Please contact Nancy Cullen at ncullen@ahastars.org if you have questions or require additional information.
  • If parents are living in separate households, both parents are required to complete TADS applications.

Other Opportunities for Tuition Assistance

  • The Pioneer Foundation – The Pioneer Foundation for the Performing Arts is a non-profit organization independent of Academy of Holy Angels, which provides opportunities for volunteers to designate contributions to AHA. This program can provide significant funds for families who wish to volunteer their time and talents.  Please check out their website to learn more about this creative way to make tuition more affordable.  http://pioneerfoundation.weebly.com

Types of Tuition Aid and Scholarships

The Academy of Holy Angels considers service an important cornerstone of our Catholic faith and community, and we encourage our students to actively invest in their education through their time and talents.

Work Study Program:  Students who are awarded Tuition Assistance will be required to volunteer at AHA during the school year.  The maximum number of hours per student is 50 hours in one school year.  Dan Dimond, Work Study Coordinator, communicates service opportunities.  He can be contacted at ddimond@ahastars.org.

Scholarships for Returning and Transfer Students: In addition to the grants, students may apply for scholarships from the Academy of Holy Angels. Scholarship awards are based on need, and the student must qualify for aid in order to be eligible. Scholarships are one-year awards and non-renewable.  To apply for a scholarship, a student must complete the TADS application, the Scholarship application, and have a current Teacher Recommendation on file (transfer students may use the teacher recommendation that is submitted with their application for admission). Returning AHA students are required to obtain a teacher recommendation from one of their AHA teachers.).

  • The Scholarship Application for Returning Students may be downloaded here. Required Teacher Recommendation for may be downloaded here.

Important Deadlines/Instructions for Scholarship Applications:

    • Complete a TADS Financial Assessment Form by January 15, 2020.
    • Complete the scholarship application by February 1, 2020.
    • Have a current Teacher Recommendation completed and on file by February 1, 2020.
    • Be registered for classes at AHA for the 2020-2021 school year by February 7, 2020.

Appealing financial aid decisions
