History: The original Rockford School District was set up by the Wright county commissioners on September 6, 1856. The first school house was built in 1860. In 1875, the Wright and Hennepin county commissioners set up a joint district call joint district 112. By 1905, the Rockford School District was a full 12 year school. During the 1960's, redistricting occurred that created the boundaries as Rockford is today. The school district was renumbered to the current Independent School District # 883
