About Our District ...
Mahtomedi serves Dellwood, Mahtomedi, Pine Springs, Willernie and parts of Grant, Hugo, Lake Elmo, Oakdale and White Bear Lake. It has two elementary schools, (K-2 and 3-5), a middle school (6-8), a senior high school (9-12) and an Alternative Learning Program. In addition, the District Education Center houses Community Education, Early Childhood Special Education, Early Childhood Family Education and school-age child care programs.
The Mahtomedi School District covers approximately 28 square miles including the east shore of White Bear Lake and is located in the northeast section of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. Mahtomedi School leaders and staff take great pride in the quality of instruction and student learning. We are area leaders in the application of SmartBoard technology for teaching and learning, continuous improvement practices with the adoption of a balanced scorecard for measuring progress, literacy block instruction K-5 and an engineering leadership program for grades 6-12.

A strong curriculum district-wide is the result of focused reviews by teachers and administrators on a regular basis according to a school board adopted planning process. World language (Spanish) is available to all students K-12.
The Middle School offers a comprehensive middle school program model and students have opportunities to experience a variety of classes along with core classes. The Mahtomedi Engineering Leadership program supports Project Lead the Way “Gateway to Technology” during middle school years.
The High School offers high-quality academic opportunities in four 86-minute time blocks and operates on a four quarter schedule. Advanced Placement classes in United States history, 2D and 3D Art, Art History, Calculus AB and BC, Chemistry, Economics, Physics B and C, Psychology, Statistics and Spanish are offered. College in the Schools courses are now available in Spanish. High school juniors and seniors also can access the postsecondary options program and take classes and earn college credit at area campuses. An outstanding music, fine arts, and athletic activities programs are offered with over 75 percent of the student body participating in activities outside of the school day. The high school is implementing an engineering curriculum across disciplines and partners with universities and colleges, business, and the community to create a world class engineering leadership program.
