Forest Lake Area Schools –
Inspire the Learner; Ignite the Potential
The Forest Lake Area School District has a proud tradition of academic excellence. Our 12 schools serve more than 7,200 students in the communities of Forest Lake, Lino Lakes, Wyoming, Columbus, Scandia, and Linwood and May Township, and parts of East Bethel, Ham Lake, Hugo, Marine on the St. Croix, Stacy and Wyoming Township.
Elementary Schools
Our eight elementary schools (K-6) provide a comprehensive education that gives students experiences they need to be successful. From the first day of kindergarten students begin to learn critical skills in reading, writing, and mathematics – and they build on those skills throughout their school years. Specialists provide instruction in music, including band and orchestra in sixth grade, physical education, media technology, gifted services, and Title 1 services.
Junior Highs
Our two junior high schools are designed to build connections between students and the expanding world. Classes focus on meeting the needs of the individual learner, building their skills, and exposing them to a wide range of activities. A strong curriculum of math, language arts, social studies, health, physical education, and science also includes three world languages, band, choir, orchestra, art, family and consumer sciences, agriculture, and industrial technology. Accelerated courses are available in many subjects.
High School
Forest Lake Area High School provides a variety of learning opportunities and experiences graduates will need to succeed wherever life takes them. All of our challenging courses provide relevant, real-world experience and focus on developing critical-thinking skills. We offer a wide variety of electives, from agriculture and business to graphic design, technology and art.
Students may also earn up to two years of college credit through Advanced Placement and College in the Schools programs – with more than 30 courses to choose from.
We have highly-regarded, award-winning music, speech, debate, FFA, and Business Professionals of America programs. A full listing of course offerings is available on the high school website at http://hs.forestlake.k12.mn.us.
Area Learning Center
Small class sizes, exceptional staff, and numerous community connections make our Area Learning Center a great place to learn The ALC offers hands-on instruction for students in grades 6 through 12. ALC students meet the same high school credit and graduation requirements as their traditional school peers, but in an innovative, personal environment.
