About Eden Prairie Schools

Eden Prairie is a growing suburban area on the southwest side of Minneapolis. Like the community, the school district is growing too. Enrollment, currently over 10,100 students, has more than doubled in the last 15 years.

Students attend eight district schools. Eagle Heights Spanish Immersion School is home to to the district's Spanish immersion program and a number of the district's kindergarten students. The four elementary schools, which house kindergarten and grades 1-4, are divided into four quadrant schools. All district fifth and sixth graders attend Oak Point Intermediate School, providing a transition from elementary to secondary. Seventh and eighth graders attend Central Middle School, while Eden Prairie High School is home to grades 9 through 12. The district also has thriving and active Community Education, Early Childhood Family Education and Early Childhood Special Education programs.

The district employs 1400+ staff members and is one of the largest employers in Eden Prairie. Our vital teaching staff is dedicated to quality schools and focused on the vision of success for all students. Eden Prairie has a dynamic staff development program helping teachers build upon their current skills. Throughout the district, staffs are involved in site-based decision making and teachers are offered the opportunity to serve on curriculum review committees. All district schools are accredited by the North Central Accrediting Association, and Eden Prairie High School is a 1994-96 National Blue Ribbon School.

The school district has strong community support. Parent volunteers help in all district schools and serve on a number of advisory committees. Voters have supported referenda to build schools to accommodate the growing population. An extensive building and remodeling program has resulted in facilities which support the schools' quality educational programs. Work has recently been completed which involved remodeling/adding to five schools. The referendum passed in November 2004 also financed technology improvements, an activities center and turfed field, and a kindergarten multipurpose room.

Mission Statement
