  • Before and after school day care is available at all elementary schools. Students may participate on the Cable Television Program which broadcasts to classrooms Vo-Tech training is available through the Suburban Hennepin Technical Center. All three middle schools have pools. 85% of HS students go on to attend a 2 or 4 year college. A media center is available for student use in all schools. Drama members perform in three plays each year. A comprehensive photography and journalism facility is available to students. Kennedy HS is a past recipient of the US DOE School of Excellence Award. Over 50% of the faculty have credits ranging from Masters Degree to Doctorate level.Bloomington SD was awarded a $130,000 Technology Grant by TIES. Bloomington Independent School District 271 is the 2002 winner of the American School Board Journals MAGNA award, advancing academics with school, community and family. Vo-Tech training is available through the Hennepin Technical Center. Jefferson High School houses 2 main computer lab for general use. Additional computer labs are located in the Library and Business Ed. Department. Vo-tech programs include computers, food service and child care. Independent Study and Mentor Connection are available for Gifted/Talented students. Students may participate in the Post Secondary Options program. 40 Seniors have earned distinction as National Merit Scholar semifinalists and commended scholars in the past three years Jefferson ranks #5 out of 208 public high schools Jefferson has won 51 state athletic championships over its 34 year history Jefferson musical groups travel widely for enrichment and performance. In 2003-04, the Orchestra performed at Disney World in Orlando and the Marching Band marched in the Hollywood Bowl Parade at Thanksgiving. In 2004-05, the Concert Band traveled to Ireland and the Jefferson Connection Show Choir traveled to Nashville Tennessee to comptete at the national level. Kennedy's 2001 boys' golf team posted the top GPA in the state golf tournament Kennedy - 2005 girls' state basketball championship Kennedy - 3 National Merit scholarship winners in Class of 2001 -- 3 National Merit Semifinalists in the Class of 2002 Kennedy - in 2001-2002, as strong athletic tradition produced State Champions in girls' track, girls' swimming and wrestling. In 2003-2005, we had back to back state wrestling championships. Kennedy - Extensive offering of courses to challenge students of all abilities and skill levels. Offerings include 12 Advanced Placement courses, Honors courses in all grades and all content areas and team taught English/Social Studies courses for skill level and enriched level students. .
